Okay, Maria!

When I write this, it's 9.10 pm in Belgium.
Google Time Zone Converter tells me that it's 1.10 pm in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. So we're 8 hours ahead of you!

I'm so knackered. Spent two days watching my 2 grandsons of 6 months and 24 months old. They're adorable cuties, but also a lot of hard work!

Lady Mae Loxley - I definitely see a correlation to the Robin Hood / Robin Loxley legend. The name Marian means "Mary-like," and the month of May (or "Mae") is Mary's month. Hmm...
I love Lady Mae's backstory, and I think she has the best story lines - and wardrobe - in the series.
Poor Miss Martle. My heart broke a little when she reminded Mr Graves that she'd spent her childbearing years with him. That just seemed so desperately sad.

Comment on TV Mr. Selfridge Episode 5 – The Perils of Philandering by Frederick G. Dickman

I am a die-hard Masterpiece Theatre fan of many decades. I have read the reviews on Mr. Selfridge and have determined I must be a forgiving fan of all past and present PBS presentations based on or around various British backgrounds. I agree with all the reviews of episode 5 with the use of the word “lipstick” (was this the word used), comments like “I’ll catch you later”, Harry’s fluorescent white teeth, and other minor discrepancies that don’t belong in 1909 London. Also, Harry waking up from a coma and insisting he is going to work, collapsing and getting right back up again to take over store’s helm. Did anybody notice Mr. Crabb’s report to the staff about Mr. Selfridge’s ‘automobile’ accident? I think he meant to say ‘motorcar’ in Edwardian England.
However, the thing that caught my attention like a thunderbolt was the scene of Mr. Selfridge’s daughter Violette reading the News of the World (newspaper). The headlines read: BRITISH TROOPS IN COLOGNE, WHITE ENSIGN FLYING AT WILHELMSHAVEN, and HUNS HOUR OF IGNOMINY. In addition, other headlines read: AT THE HELM OF STATE FOR TWO YEARS, MR. LLOYD GEORGE ON ROAD TO VICTORY. Whoever was responsible for choosing page one of a News of the World newspaper chose one that depicts events ten years into the future.
In point of fact British forces established the British Army of the Rhine (BAOR) in March 1919 and were based at Cologne, Germany. The White Ensign is the flag of Britain’s Royal Navy that was established at Wilhelmshaven early in 1919 after the Armistace. The spelling of the city’s name WILHEMSHAVEN in the newspaper, is incorrect. The headline ‘Huns’ is the derogatory name given to anything German during and after the first world war. The reference to ‘Lloyd George at the helm’ relates to him as being Prime Minister for two years from 1916 to 1918. He was also known as ‘The man who won the war’. All of these headings of the articles could only have appeared in a newspaper of approximately March 1919.
The ‘cut and paste’ version of the newspaper in reference to Mr. Selfridge’s accident, quote: ‘Mile a minute Harry in motorcar accident’ was correct per the story. The term ‘motorcar’ was correctly used.
Other than the historic bloopers mentioned, and being a forgiving fan, I am thoroughly enjoying ‘MR. SELFRIDGE’. Looking forward to Episode 6.
      Any comments are welcome.
      Thank you.

Dear Luce! This crazy fan-friend of yours used your old email address and it failed, so raising an SOS flad, Loyal sent me your correct one just now - you may read it now or later.
Well - I'll wait patiently for the book (s) , that is if you also publish the other ones! That being said, this current one To Love a Widower simply thrills me to death ...how many chapters this one have?
You look lovely, Luce, RA will not hesitate to "love you" when you get to see him in London! Good luck and best wishes - I feel envious! I read you in the Forum, hehe!
