Luce, I heard that Venice opened up last week!  Maybe you can escape Belgium and take that vacay with your friends after all!

We could ... if we were allowed to leave Belgium! The borders with France and the Netherlands are still closed.
The Germans have opened the borders with Italy and Switzerland but not with Belgium.

We have a voucher for the same period next year, so no problem.
What we worry about now is whether we will be allowed to enter France in August. We have a B&B booked for the first week. The French will decide - maybe! - on June 15.

There was a streamed ceremony for Memorial Day which Hermy and I watched.
It seems there's an organization belonging to the US Army that makes it possible to celebrate in all the countries where there are American military graveyards. Very moving and beautiful!
The American ambassador, our prime minister, and several mayors did a little speech.
Ten Flemish children sang the American national anthem on Flanders' Field American Cemetery in Waregem.
Since 1923 this is done every years on May 25 on a different war cemetery. A friend of ours sent us the link.

Spirit airlines... :o

They nickel and dime you for everything. Carry on bag?  Beverage?  Breathable air?  Lavatory?  Itíll cost you extra.  Didnít they want to charge for social distancing?  Or was that Frontier?

The airline ticket might cost $130 round trip, but to carry on and/or check bags will cost you.

Of course AA isnít much better...lol!

Thank you.  You know how us older folks remember the way things should be today.

Oh, yes! I have the feeling our lives are being changed forgood and not for the better.
We're lucky that we have a loving family, our own house and sufficient money to weather the crisis but ... many things have changed.
When are we going to see the grandkiddies in the flesh again? WhatsApp is all good and well but it's not the same.
When will we be allowed to attend theatres again? Go to restaurants? Go on holiday abroad?
Who knows? Belgium is firmly in the hands of the virologists.

Splendid, m'lady!

Loved your "I am the Flag" on the front page, too!
